What's Your Superpower?
What’s Your Superpower?
One lady, one power, lots of kids. My mom, changing the world everyday with just the simple power of teaching. Teaching little people how to read, write, and talk. My mom is a hard working kindergarten teacher; one of the hardest jobs there is. Yet doesn’t get paid enough for the work she puts in.
I often wonder what people think about teachers? Are the thoughts good or bad? Through what I have noticed, the rest of the world doesn’t really care: they get paid like sh*t and not acknowledged enough for their work. Teaching kids how to read, talk, and spell, creating the works for people. But why is my mom so special? With only making around 55k a year, (for a job that should be getting paid 100k), my mom does wonders for her school, for parents, and creates a safe environment for the kids. Although she might be 5’2” my mom is a beast. Fighting off the big kids who bully the little ones, running after kids in the hallways, and having her loud, booming voice, makes a difference inside and outside the classroom.
My mom isn’t mean, she knows what she is doing. Her job makes one of the biggest differences in the world. Taking kids that don’t know their ‐ A, B, C’s to create a kid that can read a level F or G by the end of the year, taking nothing and turning it into something. When she sees a kid in need or someone that needs help she is always there, working with the kid, their family, and the school. Even when she's alone she tries to make the difference.
My mom is a superhero, she doesn’t need a cape. But she has the best super power, being able to teach kindergarteners how to read, write, and talk. Creating the foundation for all human beings. My mom makes a difference.
