Into the Water
I'm falling. Or maybe I'm flying. No, I'm sinking. Water rushes in through the windows and my feet tangle in the surrounding wires. I remind myself not to kick or I'll get stuck and then the real trouble comes in. All I can think is that the ground is so close and I can't get to it. I think of TV shows featuring crashes. They all freak out but the real thing to do is stay calm.
But really, I'm lucky. I'm not in a helicopter crash. I'm fine. I just need to swim to the edge of the water and see how I did. I'm in a simulator. A military helicopter crash simulator. And honestly, I've never been more prepared.
