the wood
my eyes traced the dirty window pane going over the protruding rust particles that were arranged at the bottom. wiping away the fresh condensation with my finger tip I basked into the sunlight. even through the barrier of the glass I could feel the fresh crisp air beyond it. peering into the heart of the woods I glanced back and forth at the touches of sunlight dancing off the fir branches. my hands gripped the frosty window to open it. a burst of cold refreshing air hit my breath wit excitement. now my senses were open to the chatter of robins, blue jays, and the creek quietly bubbling in the background. while I closed my eyes I took another clean inhale and jolted. not caring to contain my excitement of the new spring weather, I ran as fast as I could. my bare feet caressed the dewed grass underneath them with untamed joy. body before mind I sprinted to the full extent of my legs into the deep of the wood.
