Mi Dispiace
Translation: I'm Sorry

While in Italy our tour guide stopped us and pointed out graffiti on the wall that read "Mi Dispiace," meaning I'm sorry. She believed the person was referring to his/her defacing of public property, which would be ironic as the person would be apologizing for graffiti by using graffiti. Though our tour guide's assumption could be correct, the story stuck with me as I dreamed up all the other situations to which the person could be referring.
