The fall

With the bright lights it made the sweat gleam off our faces swiftly skating on that smooth flat cement.  Some of us stopped to get a cool, refreshing drink of water while the other people stayed out skating, taking in the nice cool breeze and having fun; but having too much fun can be painful.
Getting to the rusty, old, rundown looking building; my mom, dad, sister and I all began wondering if this building was the right place.  We pulled out of the gravel driveway and followed the gps for a mile or two but, we didn’t find another roller rink.  We ended up turning around and went back.  When we pulled back into the driveway we saw my aunt’s car and seen them get out of their car and then we all went inside.  After paying the $5 to get in we heard the  music thumping out of the speakers.  We all skated for a solid three hours; we were in races, games, and a lot of fun activities.
A few of us stopped at the concessions and got something to snack on.  My mom, sister and I split a warm, salty, soft pretzel with some cheese and a nice, cool, cold cup of water.  After we had our snack we went skating again and I snuck up behind my aunt and yelled “BOO!”
After I got done yelling she said “ It’s not funny,” so I continued to skate around and  I was thinking to myself, why did she yell at me it was just a joke.  We had races and the first race was my sister against another little girl, which the girl had won by a few feet.  Then it was a few older guys and myself.  I had came in 3rd place after 2 older kids finished. Then they had couple skate after the races, so I ended sitting on the cold, hard, dirty plastic bench by myself while everyone one else had a couple to skate with.  Then we went back to normal skating for about 20 minutes and that’s when it happened….

My aunt had fell on her face, like a rock.  I knew something had happened because I heard my mom start to laugh like a pig, so I looked and I had seen my aunt on the floor; we all skated over while my mom ran to see if she was OK.  She was slow to get up but she got up and went to the bench and she sat down for a while still laughing at herself and how funny it was. I found it ironic because, earlier in the evening she said “ Don’t do that or I am going to fall.”  The reason I found it to be ironic was because, I was nowhere near her and she fell so it made my day to see it all happen.  Only  one thing that would've made it better is if we got it on camera so we could play it in slow-mo or make a funny video out of it or something.  After that was over we went to our cousin’s house and hung-out until mid-night eating snacks, playing games, and having a lot of pop.  Then  finally the night came to an end.  We played a game in the pitch black of the night and we had to be sneaky.  I need to stop breathing loud or I won’t win the game. I kept saying that to myself because I get competitive. Playing in the pitch black made it easy to scare people but it made it easy for me to get scared as well.  I didn’t win the game because the guard (my cousin Maya) started crying because she lost the game, so we sat doing nothing for the rest of the night.
I learned that what you say can come back and bite you and be the opposite of what you said.  Like when my aunt told me not to scare her or she would fall, and she fell when I was nowhere near her is an example of that.  One thing I learned is that too much fun can be painful.
