Thank You
Dear Mrs. Doolas,
Although you worked with me for nine years, in the past three years you really changed my life for the better. Before sixth grade, anxiety never really bothered me. But in October of 2013, my anxiety started to skyrocket, forcing me to fear everything, even simple mundane ideas or objects. I almost stopped talking, and dealt with my newfound dilemma by rolling up into a ball in an isolated corner. I lost twenty pounds in a few months and skipped school for many days. I even thought about suicide, though the thought of attempting it scared me too much to actually try. But, you continually supported me, along with an amazing team of psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers.
In my first days dealing with my heightened anxiety, I visited you quite frequently, and even more frequently when my anxiety peaked. You always provided coping strategies, like exposure therapy and meditation. And though it took many months to overcome, you played a major part in my reintroduction to normal life. In the two years it took to completely overcome this severe flare-up, you always guided me onto the right track and helped me pave the way to the life I live now. Without your help, I would still be in that situation.
You are a magnificently thoughtful person, and your heart accepts everyone. You help everyone who simply asks for it. Even though it may sound cheesy, I aspire to become someone as helpful as you. You will always be there help me through my rough patches. So I want to thank you, Mrs. Doolas, for helping me live the fantastic life I live now.
With All Possible Sincerity (Ooh I know that’s cheesy),
K.
