Welcome to Wonderland

“Sometimes the smallest things in life take up the most room in your heart”- Winnie the Pooh. It was  beautiful. No it wasn’t beautiful it was bewitching. I was only 10 at the time but I never knew that such a place would exist in our corrupt world. That one trip, that one moment changed my life forever. Nothing could ever top that one moment I realized that beautiful things can exist in the world. You just have to look hard enough for them. I believe in wonders because they don't come up that often when  you are getting beat up by life, not everything is miserable, and believe it or not life can be amazing.

My family and I aren't very big on traveling to places we've never been to. When I heard that we were going to Pennsylvania to visit some relatives, I was surprised at first but didn't think much of it. So we did our usual routine of packing, nothing changed. I knew the rules. Don’t be in a bad mood, be on your best behavior, smile, and be respectful. The day came that we were going to board our plane. At that point of my life I was just a child but I already felt like I knew so much. For everything  I would have different thoughts or opinions but I kept quiet. When you're a child of course everything seems like a fairytale and everything is perfect in the world. What I didn't know was that it actually exists if you look hard enough.

The weather was ice cold when we got off the plane. Suddenly I wanted to run back inside the plane for warmth. The airport smelled liked old people. It was late at night so the airport wasn't very crowded. Of course when we arrived, my family and I were greeted with hugs and kisses. I held my breath through the whole process. Their home smelled musty but at least it was warm. A few days passed and I was getting very bored. The little kids weren't helping my case either. Finally I heard talking that we were finally going to get out of this miserable place. I don’t exactly remember the name of the place we were going to but I didn't really care because we were finally going to get out. When we arrived all I saw was trees of different colors. When I got off the car and I saw what was in front of me I was dismayed. I had found bliss.

It was like I had stepped through the looking glass and I was in my own fairytale. All the beautiful colors. The fresh white snow that dropped on the ground and the most gentle creature which was a deer only made it better. All the talking and other sounds completely disappeared. I felt like Snow White. How when she gets lost in the forest and she feels like she is vulnerable but then she finds the good at the end. She finally sees the majestic forest with all the animals. That was my disney moment, I felt like I was a gorgeous princess that could do anything. I stood there amazed at what I had just seen. Was I really here? Am I really experiencing this? That forest, that one trip was all it took to make me open my eyes and see that there actually is such a thing as a magical moment.

It took me a while to come back to reality. When I finally did it felt like I had just been woken up from the most beautiful dream I had ever had. Like every other dreamer in the world, you don't want to be woken up from that one special dream. It almost feels too real to let go. When we finally got back, I was lost for words. I had never seen something so enchanting. For the rest of the trip I tried to keep up with everyone else but my mind kept drifting back to that point.Ever since we left my dream has always been to go back. It’s been awhile since I've been back there. So far nothing has ever felt as spellbinding as that. I believe in wonders because they don't come up that often when  you are being beat up by life, not everything is miserable, and believe it or not life can be amazing. Everything is actually magical when you see it with your heart.

This piece was only meant to be something for school, but it turned in to some thing much bigger. It was a door for me to walk through and be taken back to my earlier memories. i was as if the key to that door was buried deep somewhere and it was finally brought out into the light.
