Lost at Toys R' Us
It was shaping up to be a normal day with my family, just driving around after we ate. I think that day we might have eaten at the Grand China Buffet. I was extremely full from all the food I have just eaten. It was usual for me and my sibling to bug my parents about taking us to Toys R’ Us, and that was the day that we actually went.
For me as a six year old boy, I loved toys, especially Legos and anything that had to deal with Pokémon. I loved collecting all the Pokémon cards I could, I didn’t care if they were bad or good, I just wanted as many as I could get. My room was filled with Legos. I loved building anything that came into mind, I usually built a lot of space ships and I would have them fly around killing the bad guys and aliens. Those were my favorite things to look for so when we first got there I wanted to run straight to them. My dad always tells us not to run away or get too far, so I stayed with them. Time went by and I really wanted to look at the Legos and Pokémon. I was so happy to finally go see them. I was so filled with joy. Me looking at all the toys, it felt like hours went by like that. There were rows of Legos and Pokémon cards. It blew my mind how much stuff there could be in that one spot. I saw so many other little boys and girls who also were amazed by all of the things in the rows. I was so caught up in the moment, that I wasn’t sure where my parents were. After a little while I decided to walk back to where I came from, only to find that my family wasn’t there. I started to look around but I still couldn’t find them. I could feel the warm tears rolling down my face as I thought I wouldn’t see my family ever again. I kept on searching for my family as I wiped the tears from my eyes. At that point I wished I had never left my parents side. I looked through half of the store and I still could not find them anywhere, by then I was about to give up searching. All of a sudden I heard a very familiar voice. It was my mom! I started to run toward them.
“Where were you?” asked my mom.
“I got lost, and couldn’t find you guys.” I said.
I was so glad to have found my family. After that day, I never walked off from my parents. I stuck with them. This event made me realize that parents aren’t trying to tell you stuff because they are mean, they just want to protect you, and that has stayed with me ever since. No matter what they are telling, no matter if I agree with it or not I am still taking it into consideration.
