Imagine this: You’re in 8th grade and having troubled and struggling, for too many homework, and projects in school. You feel like there are too many pressures and demands on you. Don't you think there is an end to this. You always feel like you mind is going to blow. Well, this what we call stress. It was found that school demands is the top source of stress for teens like you. Stress is the body's way of rising to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation with focus, strength and heightened alertness. It is a burst of energy that advises you on what to do. Can this be resolved and/or can it be manageable? Are there effective means on how to cope up with stress? Do you think you can pass this grade if you don’t do anything? One way to reduce such is through stress management.

One reason I think students like you should learn how to manage the stress that comes along with any new challenges good or bad. First, you must understand that there are good stress which are beneficial and which can motivate them to get work done. Secondly, there is bad stress that causes anxiety and even health problems, and which saddles you with worry and frustration as well. Identifying which is good and bad stress will eventually lead them to an effective stress management. It can teach you healthier ways to cope up with stress, help reduce harmful effects and prevent stress from spiraling out of control again in the future. Researchers said that stress has pros or positive effect on students which are as follows: 1. Being stressed-out motivates student to focus on their work or studies, 2. Stress can help you meet daily challenges and motivates you to reach out for their goals, 3. Can help students accomplish task more efficiently and even boost their memories, 4. As health benefits, stress can help strengthen the immune system. Stress can improve how your heart works and protects your body from infection.

In contrary in managing stress you must also learn and take into consideration what are the possible negative effects of it if not dealt well. Study said that when the student is so stressful he has that feeling of being constantly preserved, hassled and hurried; irritability and moodiness is also a sign; and some physical symptoms like stomach problems, headaches or even chest pains (Kids health). Taking into consideration the results of their study also is compatible with the results of the research made by the American Psychological Association that stress have many Cons or negative effects: 1. Physical Effect (headaches, neck or back pains;sweating, dizziness; frequent colds; stomach pains; constant tiredness) 2. Mental effects (anxiety, worry; frustrations; depression; difficulty communicating, trouble learning new information and confusion) 3. Behavioral or Emotional Effects (nervous habits; lies or excuses to cover up poor work; mumbled speech; problems communicating; social withdrawal).

Student should first need to find the sources of stress they are experiencing together with the habits and attitudes that get along with it. The American Psychological Association  on how teens manage stress. According to them managing daily stress can also lead to a more overall positive outlook on your life and well being. The following steps can help teens how to manage stress: First: Exercise, moving your body and doing physical activities might help a lot like yoga, hiking, biking, walking etc. , this can reduce stress hormones and can boost energy. Taking a break from the stress maybe difficult to get away but it is important to somehow take care of yourself too. Second: Get enough shut eye/ Get a good sleep , between homework and activities it is really hard to get enough sleep. Teens get less sleep nowadays with only an average of 7.4 hours which is not good because sleep is the key to both physical and emotional well being. If you stay up late and still need to get up early for school you may not get all the hours of sleep you will need. Third: Strike a Balance, school is important, but it is not everything. When you plan your week, schedule time to get school work done , and also schedule time to have fun and find other hobbies. Fourth: Enjoy Yourself, aside from physical activities eg. Other hobbies, listening to music, going to movies or drawing for these things can minimize stress. Fifth: Let yourself Shine, think about the things you're good at ex. If you are a Math Ace you can help neighbor or cousins struggling with Math and tutor or volunteer on some church work or community outreach. Focusing on strengths will help you keep stress away. Sixth: Be Realistic, try not to over commit yourself. Seventh: Reach Out/ Talk Through It, if you are stressed-out talk to friends/family or teachers let others lend a hand, in some cases if you can handle your stress talk to a counselor. If you need help ask for it. It may help you find ways to relieve and manage your stress. Eight: Change Perspective, y to see stress as your friend....always be there at your side it is just a matter of how you deal with it as good or bad one.

In conclusion with all the stress that a student is going through it is very important to note that in dealing with stress one should learn how to manage the stress that comes along with any new challenges whether good or bad. Stress is an inevitable part of life, but you can improve the way you respond to stress and avoid or change some situations that create negative stress. Yes it is a part of their daily lives but embracing it and accepting it as part of their lives and managing it in a positive way is a must too. Believing that in overcoming all those stress they are also helped to mature and live their lives and prepare themselves for much stressful school life in the future. With this I believe that stress on teens struggling and having troubles with their school works and school issues can be resolved and can be overcome. One is sure that teens should need to be more organize in all he/she does and must include balancing their time in their priorities in order to avoid crammed schedules and overlapping activities. They must avoid trouble, do homework or projects as soon as possible and at least start projects as soon as you get them. The guidance and assistance given by friends, family and school staff especially the teachers are also key factors on how they will be helped to overcome stress at school. This will really help you move on and forward those stresses. Would you want to fail this year?
