Goals MAG
Corner,
Ball blasted into the opaque sky.
White silhouette on black canvas.
For a second,
One split second,
It looks like one of the stars.
Just long enough to make you forget.
Forget the sweat and fatigue,
The cluttered bodies,
And the defender
With a handful of your jersey.
Focus.
Forget the practices,
The time and effort,
The battles,
The agony and the ecstasy,
The pulled muscles,
The cuts and bruises,
The humiliation, and the pride,
The sacrifice,
The people who said you couldn't.
Focus.
And as the ball baptizes your head,
And the side-netting embraces
The Victory,
You, for a second,
One split second,
Are one of the stars too.
