The Arrowhead boys hockey team began its season on November 27th against the Fon du Lac Cardinals. After losing 7-0, junior defenseman Matt Keranen said,” We obviously didn’t play well, but it’s good to get experience against one of the best teams in the state.” Fon du Lac is 6-0 this season with wins against Madison Edgewood, Arrowhead, Homestead, University School, Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha and Wausau West.

Arrowhead bounced back after their 7-0 loss against Fon du Lac. Since then, they have won five consecutive games, the most recent on December 11th against Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago.

Arrowhead junior goalie Trevor Macey had 25 saves and recorded his first shutout of the season.

“Trevor was amazing in goal,” said Keranen. “His play was a big reason why we got the win tonight.”

Arrowhead got the lead in the first period on a goal from sophomore Jack Bredeson. After neither team scored in the second period, Arrowhead sophomore John Sorenson added another goal in the third period to secure the win for the Warhawks.

Arrowhead improved their record to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference. Kettle Moraine dropped to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference.

“It was a big win,” said Keranen. “They were ranked seventh in the state coming into the game, we proved that we belong in the discussion with the states best.”

Arrowhead’s next game will be on Thursday December 13th, at 7pm, at the Mullet Center against Cedarburg.

“We have to keep our momentum going,” said Keranen. Cedarburg is a good team and it will be a good test for us.”

Cedarburg comes into the game with a record of 2-1. Their last game resulted in a 3-2 win over Homestead.
