The Arrowhead boys varsity basketball team is off to a great start this year, with an overall record of 6-0. So far they’ve beat Homestead, Catholic Memorial, Muskego, Morse Marshall, Riverside, and Wisconsin Lutheran.

The team coached by Craig Haase, welcomes back nine returning players: seniors Jackson Abresch, Dom Todarello, Kenny Finco, Brandon Kim, Kevin LeRoy, DJ Escamilla, Kyle Keranen, and juniors Ricky Finco, Jack Nate, and Billy Hirschfield. New additions to the team this year include juniors Matt Seitz, Evan Burlingame, Charlie Reuteman, Stephen Pralle, and freshmen, Brian Wilman and Ben Bredeson. The team is managed by junior Justin Radtke and senior Mike Wrobble.

This year the team started off strong with their six wins, already defeating one of their rivals in the Classic 8 Conference Catholic Memorial, coming out on top, 65-56. Another rival team in the Classic 8 Radtke says is Mukwonago.

So far, this season, the boys are in 1st place in the conference.

Practices are no breaks, though.

Radtke says, “Practices are tough. Guys compete everyday to win team competition games and to get ready for game-like situations.”
A typical practice, Radtke says, includes, shooting around, rebounding, defensive drills, full court pressure defense, blood drills, shooting, and then going over the goals to remind them of their focus. Full court pressure defense, focuses on Arrowhead’s press they will periodically throw on teams to make them turn the ball over, and blood drills focus on attacking and getting to the lane to finish.

This year Keranen leads the team in scoring averaging about 11 points per a game.

The upcoming games, the Warhawks will play Waukesha North, Kettle Moraine, and Waukesha South.
