Softball Morning
It was early morning around seven, the sun still wasn’t completely up yet and neither was I. I knew it was going to be cold outside and I put my jacket on as my fourth layer of clothing for that morning. The majority of the girls were still in the vans. I walked alone on the long sidewalk of the field complex and watched the activities around me: men getting the fields ready for the long day ahead, a coach from another team making sure all was going well. I studied the field that our team would be playing on that day, the grass green and wet, the infield dirt was drug nice and smooth. When the dirt is all nice and smooth I hate to even step on it and mess up its’ perfectness. Soon I had to leave the peaceful site that in less than an hour was going to turn into battle between two teams. I again began to walk back down the long sidewalk to my softball teammates; who are also preparing for what we believed could be our last two games together.
