Cairns, New Experiences, New Fun

If you’re looking for an escape, Cairns has the best places to go in Queensland, by Shayla Shiels.

If you want a tropical paradise Cairns is the way to go. It is located in Far North Queensland among the rainforests, Cairns is not far from the stunning Great Barrier Reef and is close to the tropical rainforests. The best season to go to Cairns is when its most pleasant during the winter months (June to August), when temperatures range from 17 to 26 degrees Celsius

There are many activities for teens to do, such as going throw the Daintree walks or going to the zoos. Take a day trip to the sky rails where it explores the rainforest and gives opportunities to see the Daintree at another perspective. You can also go to Harley’s crocodile adventure where you will get to see many different chances to experience what it’s like with crocodiles and other animals. You can also participate in Daintree Dreaming Aboriginal art and culture. Going to cairns is a family type of holiday, where teens can adventure and spend time in a tropical place.

When staying in cairns there are many accommodations options, many including hotels campsites, waterfronts, apartments and backpacking resorts. One of the best camping spots is Panoramic Trails where you can do many activities like hiking, swimming and wildlife watching. If you are looking for a hotel to stay at while holidaying in Cairns, there are many options to choose from. If you’re looking for a place that’s close to shops e.g., clothing shops staying at mantra esplanade might be the way to go.  When I visited mantra, it was good because there where swimming pools so when it got hot, we could swim since you can’t swim in the beaches because of the crocodiles. There were also heaps of restaurants and markets that you could walk to. It was very exciting for my sister and I because there was always something for us to do instead of sitting around and being bored.

When travelling to Cairns the cultural attractions are something to experience as well as learning about the history of Cairns. The Daintree dreaming aboriginal culture, this tour shows where their stories were learnt through art, while also learning about the about the ancient Aboriginal ‘highways.’ Cairns was founded in 1876, Cairns was named after the state governor at the time, Sir William Wellington Cairns. With a population of 3500, it was formally declared a town in 1903.

When I went to cairns one of the best memories was when we went on the sky rails where we could see the waterfall and how beautiful it looked. It was a new experience for me and my sister specifically because we haven’t seen a waterfall that big. There were also many walks that we could go on and went on which was so fun looking at all the birds and animals. We never got bored when we stayed in cairns, and we were never on our phones. There were and are many activities to do for teens to do and each one is a new adventure. Cairns, new experiences, new fun.
