Laughlin Harrahs Review: The Hotel of Misfortune
Many travel on special days like Christmas, New Year's, and July the 4th. When you travel with family, you hope to return home with a good experience. I went to Laughlin, a town in Nevada close to Arizona, with my family for the 4th of July to ride jet skis, enjoy the private beach overlooking the Colorado River, and relax in a nice comfy bed at the hotel, however, that was not what I experienced. When we arrived at Harrah's hotel, we waited two hours to check in the room just for the desk to tell us there weren’t any other rooms available in the tower we had a reservation in. We thought that it was unfair, and they gave us a room in another tower and even though we got a room, it was a room that looked grimy and a restroom. The appearance of the room desolated me and my family.
We weren’t the only ones to experience the grubby room. As stated by Tripadvisor, there have been numerous reports of dirty carpets and bathrooms as well as there being countless maintenance issues. The day we were given the dingy room, my family and I had to wait in an extraordinarily long line full of people with hostile glares for at least 30 minutes or more to get into the only elevator that was working out of the three. We complained to them and asked about changing into another room the same day, hoping to be put in a better one, but it was another dirty and smelly room. This vexed both my dad and mom and ended up just sleeping for the night. My mom had to wake up at 2 am just to see if there were any rooms available in the tower we originally reserved and finally got the room.
We moved to the other tower at 10 in the morning and that was when my mom told us that the supervisor who helped her at the desk was being unprofessional. The supervisor had no customer service, he wasn’t paying attention to her when she was showing the confirmation of the reserved room and even charged the card we paid twice. After we were moved, my mom had planned for us to go to the pool and when we got there, a grimacing look appeared on our faces when we saw the pool. We were baffled when the private beach had even clearer water than the pool.
My vacation for the 4th of July was saved by riding on jetskis and being able to see fireworks with my family. Overall, if you plan on staying in Laughlin for the holidays, Harrahs should not be your number one option.
