Parasailing
The boat’s engine was the only thing detracting from the sights and sounds of paradise. Gentle bobbing turquoise waves, colorful fish that populate the many coral reefs. I let go and start to rise. Everything becomes smaller. The boat’s engine seems to fade into nothing. It’s different up here, quiet; tranquil. The only sound is the gentle breeze passing my ears. I realize someone sitting next to me. No, gliding. A bird; a pelican. It cries out and drifts away, and I am alone again. I am overcome with disappointment as I begin to lower towards the boat. It was worth it.
