War isn't necessary
War is an archaic way of solving problems between countries and/or leaders. Why doesn’t the government find a new way to solve this? War means power because without power you have no control over people. War involves innocent people getting hurt and families being separated. Usually people don’t want to go into war, but they do it for different reasons. Either they are obligated, or want to defend their country or give honor to their family or basically want to hurt people. It is a horrid sight that can really mess people up. Many people can argue that war is necessary. Such as ‘we can’t let someone else dominate us’ they are saying it’s the only way to solve a problem, to kill others so others can be frightened. It has helped bring jobs to those who make weapons and those who battle. It has also helped gain land and with people being killed it decreases population, but we don’t need war to be a solution.
War can brainwash people to think it’s the correct way to solve a problem, but people should know that not everything involves fighting, and it’s not a good thing. War makes it seem that it is the only solution when two countries are at war. Such as, The Indian American War and the Mexican American war, they helped gain territories and The Civil war helping solve a conflict between slavery. During the mid-1900s there was War World II, The Cold War, the Vietnam War, and more wars were going on. Many people were killed and money spent. In the Vietnam War, there were 3 million people killed and the nation spent $120 billion for a war that lasted 21 years (1954-1975). In a way it’s good because for 21 years, it’s not as bad as World War II where it lasted 6 years, where 50-70 million people died and trillions of dollars were spent.
War creates enemies and anger, so people start to hate each other. It causes tension and problems against people like racial and religion tension and terrorism can cause this problem. Terrorist help cause some of these wars, such as now. Afghanistan is allies with the United States, but the terrorist caused the Afghanistan war. We are now in the Afghanistan War that started because terrorist decided to bomb the Twin Towers on 9/11. We must also find a way to end terrorist attacks. It is very difficult to end it because you don’t know who will attack a place. This has caused America to be in economic problems and we can’t let this keep happening, bad history shouldn’t repeat itself.
A solution for a new way to solve world problems without war might be for the government to make a treaty stating you cannot start war or else they will be thrown in prison. If one wants to start it or if one starts it, they will be put in prison. Or the government really wants a fight they should fight each other and not get innocent people involved. We shouldn’t be drafted into war if we don’t want to. War is like a scar, it can drive a soldier or people insane by watching others die in battle or not wanting to kill others.
War is made to settle a conflict, but if you look at the results a nation neither wins nor looses. If they ‘win’ they lose people and money; if they ‘lose’ they lose people, money, and the argument. There is no real way to stop war because it revolves around the government and it goes based usually on what they choose. They want power and war helps them get that power. Life can’t be perfect not even the world. Nothing can’t be full of ‘rainbows and unicorns’, and it is difficult to make peace, but we can start from somewhere. A man named Baudouin once said, “It takes twenty years or more of peace to make a man; it takes only twenty seconds of war to destroy him.”
