A favorite treasure of mine in Waukesha County would be the Village of Hartland. As you walk the Village, you’ll see how the community comes together. During the summer, there are plenty activities to do at our community Nixon Park; 4th of July parade and fireworks, movies on the stage, music festivals, and much more. A favorite Nixon park event is the 4th of July fireworks on the baseball diamond followed by lots of snacks, bands playing on the stage, and the community catching up with each other.

Each year, one day during the summer a street dance is held. They shut off the main street, have a band playing, beer tents, food, and activities for the kids to do. The street dance would be my favorite summer activity because you can watch the community come together, sharing a lifetime of memories, and having one of the best nights of summer.

I grew up in West Allis and when I moved to Hartland during my 5th grade year, I was surprised by how close one Village can get, how everyone knows each other, and how we all come together in a time of need.

Hartland is a treasure of Waukesha County because it is not only full of history, but also it brings the community together as one and shows you how a true community should work together.
