Scene 1 [the stage is empty]

[Narrator]

You have all heard the iconic story Romeo and Juliet. About two star crossed lovers, now hear the story of The Loyal Advisor

Scene 2 [the scene transitions to Harmony and her parents in their house]

[the scene then transitions to Harmony at her home with her mother and father]

[Harmony’s mom]

I cannot believe you’re already going to live with the emperor now!

[Harmony’s dad]

It felt like yesterday that you graduated at only 10 years old!

{Harmony}

Don’t worry mother and father, I’ll be fine. I can do this, I know you have your doubts but I can.

[Harmony’s mom]

This is more of a dangerous job than you think, someone could want to kill you!

{Harmony} 

I’ll be alright, mom.

[Harmony’s mom]

If you say so. . .

[Harmony then exits stage right and her parents exit stage left]

Scene 3 [the stage is now Charles in the palace]

[Charles]

So now I’m thinking of finally opening up the advisor position to be easier.

[Servant] 

Wouldn’t that make people more concerned?

[Charles] 

Yeah, you’re probably right.

[Servant]

I say we stay patient for someone to at least get 60% on the exam, sure, the previous advisor had the highest score ever recorded and maybe this new one may not but at least the people will have more trust.

{Charles}

Okay

Scene 4 [the scene is Harmony taking the exam and turning it in]

[Harmony]

Just finished my exam! I better turn it in.

[Harmony walks up to the desk to turn in her exam and exits the opposite side of the stage.]

Scene 5 [Charles is in a meeting with his allies.]

{Charles}

So as I was saying—...

[Exam professor]

[running in from stage right] Sir! Sir! Good news.

[Ally #1]

What good news?

[Exam professor]

Well it’s kind of a Spanabar thing.

{Charles}

It can wait.

[Exam professor]

Okay.

{Charles}

So as I was saying…

Scene 6 [the scene is Harmony at her home]

[Harmony’s dad]

Are you sure you did well? There’s only been one female advisor in our thousand year history and that was over 200 years ago.

{Harmony}
I know I can do this, father.

[Harmony’s dad]

Not everyone was made for the role of the advisor, you know.

{Harmony}
Well I’m not everyone, aren’t I?

[Harmony’s mom]

He’s just speaking based on facts, it is a pretty high role in our society.

{Harmony}

I know we’re peasants now, but I know with all my heart that that is about to change.

[the stage goes dark and narrator slowly enters from stage right]

[Narrator]

Harmony’s life was indeed about to change, for the better, too. As you’ll see right now.

[Narrator and the cast exit stage left and the stage is pitch black.]

Scene 7 [The exam professor and Charles are in the meeting room]

{Charles}

So what did you want to tell me?

[Exam Professor]

Someone passed the exam, with 100% too!

{Charles}

Nobody has ever gotten that score before!

[Exam Professor]
I know!

{Charles}

I must meet with them right away!

[Exam Professor]

There is one thing though…

{Charles}

What?

[Exam Professor]

Not that it’s anything bad or anything but the new advisor is also a woman.

{Charles}

That is perfectly fine, after all, there has only been one female advisor in our thousand year history.

[Exam Professor]

Yeah, you’re right, I just felt the need to let you know.

[Charles and Exam Professor exit stage left]

Scene 8 [The scene is Henry and the Albana leader in the Albana meeting room.]

[Albana Ruler] I love to be your ally.

{Henry}

Heh, I haven't heard that in a while.

[Albana ruler]

Yeah, it does seem like that with your situation, no offense.

{Henry}

None taken.

[They both shake hands and the stage goes pitch black]

Scene 9 [Harmony and Charles meet for the first time.]

{Harmony}

[Bowing] Your majesty

{Charles}

That’s not really necessary considering that you're an advisor.

{Harmony}

But you're the emperor, the highest of them all.

{Charles}
I know but it just feels weird when people bow before me since we’re all technically human and nobody is really better than the other.

{Harmony}
I guess you are right.

[the stage goes pitch black (Harmony and Charles exit quietly) and the narrator enters from stage right with a spotlight following him]

[Narrator]

Over the months, Charles and Harmony got along really well. Charles would even solve all the problems of the empire just to have Harmony around. One day, however, Charles ran out of problems in the kingdom.

Scene 10 [Charles is alone on stage and planning]

{Charles} 

There’s got to be another problem in the empire that I can solve, surely there must! I know! I’ll invade Albana, there are lots of problems there, since it’ll be my territory, it’ll be my duty to solve all the problems there.

[Charles exits stage left]

Scene 11 [Charles and Harmony are in the meeting room]

{Charles}

So Harmony, I’m planning to invade Albana for reasons that I’m going to keep to myself for now, but it’s a pretty powerful kingdom, so I’ll need some help.

{Harmony}

Why even invade it at all? It’s not worth losing all those loyal men over.

{Charles} 

To expand our culture into other territories.

{Harmony}
I am sure they have enough of our culture already but if I did have a battle strategy, it would be…

[the stage goes pitch black and the narrator enters from stage right]

[Narrator]

As much as Harmony didn’t want to invade Albana, she also didn’t want to upset Charles so she came up with a brilliant plan anyways. A few months had passed and Charles had returned back from battle safely.

Scene 12 [Charles threw a party to celebrate the victory over Albana]

{Charles} See? Everyone is happy about this.

{Harmony}
Yeah, they really are.

{Charles} 

So, may I have this dance?

{Harmony}
Sure.

[They both dance and everyone watches.]

Scene 13 [The Narrator enters from stage right]

[Narrator]

The invasion of Albana made Henry FURIOUS. The Sorbanee empire, Henry’s empire, did what they could to save Albana but alas, it wasn’t enough. Henry decided that since the leader of Albana died in that battle, the leader of the Spanabar empire would also have to die.

[the narrator exits stage left]

Scene 14 [Henry and assassins are in the meeting room of the Sorbanee empire]

{Henry} 

I want you to go and kill the emperor Charles.

[Assassin #1]

Okay. But what’s in it for us?

{Henry} 

Gold, lots of it too.

[Assassin #2]

That is good enough for me, let’s go.

[the rest of the assassins (there’s 5 of them total)]

Right!

[Assassins run off stage left]

{Henry}

Right back at ya, Charles.

Scene 15 [Charles and Harmony are solving some of the problems in the new Albana part of the empire]

[Guard #1 enters from stage right]

[Guard #1]

Sir!

{Charles}

What is it?

[Guard #1]

We just got word that a group of people are on their way here to kill you!

{Charles}

Okay, Harmony, come with me.

[they both exit off stage left]

Scene 16 [they’re in Charles’ bunker]

{Charles}
They won’t be able to get into here.

{Harmony}
Actually they will, Sorbanee has more of an educational system that teaches more stuff like that so they know how to revolt if they hate a ruler.

{Charles}
Crud.

{Harmony}
[hesitates] I can pretend to be you though.

{Charles}

What?

{Harmony}
I can pretend to be you, that way they’ll take me instead.

{Charles}
Harmony, I can’t let you risk your life like that.

{Harmony}
Either way my life is at stake, they don’t have much information on us because they don’t want people liking us, they’ll think that we’re a couple.

{Charles}

Harmony I—

{Harmony}
They’re coming! Hide!

[Charles exits off stage right]

[Assassins run in from stage left]

[Assassin #1]

[Holds up sword to Harmony’s chin] You’re coming with us.

[the other assassins assemble around her, pointing their katana’s at her]

{Harmony}

[she’s disguised as Charles by the way] Okay, I will since I have no other options.

[Assassin #1]

That’s right.

[they all exit stage left]

[Charles enters from stage right]

{Charles} 

I have the deepest of sorrows that I have left you to die like that, my dear Harmony, my one and true love, for your sake I shall end the Sorbanee empire and their cursed race forever!

[Charles walks off stage right]

Scene 17

{Henry}
So you brought a woman.

[Assassin #1]

Yes, the emperor.

{Henry}
[slams fist on the desk] THE EMPEROR IS A MALE 

[Assassins back up]

We’re sorry we’ll—

{Henry}
Don’t, I wish to visit this false emperor.

[Assassin #3]

As you wish sir…

Scene 17 [the assassins lead Henry in from stage left. Harmony is tied to a pole]

{Henry}

[circling around Harmony] I can tell that you took the emperor’s place. [waits for 10 seconds] He must treat you so well if you did. [waits another 10 seconds] But… [puts finger on her chin] I’d treat you even better.

{Harmony}

[spits at him] I am loyal to my empire and my emperor.

{Henry}

Well I’ll teach you how to respect a new emperor!

{Harmony}
Anger issues much?

[Henry exits off stage left]

Scene 18 [Charles is tied to a wooden pole on a wooden platform with a lot of hay at the bottom. Harmony is once again tied to a pole with Henry at her side.]

{Henry}
[Raises his hand]

[Charles is immediately set to flames]

{Harmony}
NO!!!

[The flames go out and Charles is seen dead]

[The stage goes pitch black]

Scene 19 [Harmony and Henry are in the cell once again]

[Henry throws Harmony to the ground]

{Harmony}

[weeping] How… How could you?

{Henry} 

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Now, marry me or—

{Harmony}

I will! Just please… Don’t hurt anybody else…

{Henry} 

So you’ve finally learned, that’s good.

{Harmony}

Yes, I have…

[Henry holds up her chin and the stage goes pitch black]

[Narrator enters from stage right] 

[Narrator] 

Poor, poor Harmony, doomed to a fate that she could not change, or would that fate change itself?

Scene 20 [the wedding ceremony]

[Priest]

Do you, Henry—

{Henry} 

Yes, I do.

{Priest}
And—

{Henry}

Yes, she does.

[Priest]

It has to be her words, sir.

{Henry}
[looks at Harmony] Well. . .?

{Harmony}
I…

[Henry holds up her chin with his finger]

{Harmony}
I do. . . NOT! [pulls out dagger and stabs Henry with it]

{Harmony}

May my blood be spilled upon this earth. Oh dagger, guide me to my love!
[Charles runs like a bolt from stage left and stops Harmony just in time.]

{Charles}
Harmony, stop!

{Harmony}

Charles…?

{Charles}
Harmony please… I… I love you! I’m sorry I didn’t return sooner… I should have I—

[Harmony pulls Charles in and kisses him Charles closes his eyes]

{Harmony} I love you too

[Narrator enters from stage right and the stage darkens with a spotlight following him]

[Narrator]

And so a story that seemingly was going to end terribly ended up having a happy ending and that my friends is the story of the loyal advisor. The end.
