My Hero
I feel a hero is anyone who someone can look up to. I can honestly say, my hero is my best friend. Many people I have looked up to have let me down by using drugs, or abusing alcohol, or disrespecting their values. Where have all of the heroes gone? Did our society just give up on being good? I used to look up to someone who seemed perfect, as though they could do no wrong. He has with bullying beyond anyone could handle. His father walked out on him when he was a child. His mother was an abusive alcoholic.. But yet, he still stands. Breaking the chain of abuse and suffering. He puts on a brave face as though nothing in the world could stop him. But now, because of the choices other people made to ridicule him for who he was, or what he believed in he took his own life. He never cried out for help because he wanted to prove himself strong to his tormentors. He never asked for a shoulder to cry on, because he would never be able to choke down the shame. Yet, through all of his trials, he still stands.
