What Therapy is Really Like
I can relate to Serena in her article, "What Therapy is Really Like." I've also experienced depression to the point where I assumed suicide could solve all my problems. I began cutting my wrist in the fifth grade due to bullying and family issues. Over the summer, I tried overdosing, which caused a good friend of mine to rush over late at night to stop me from any other crazy ideas. I am sixteen now, almost seventeen, and I have gotten better. I didn't see a therapist, but I did gain strength on expressing my feelings more freely by talking to someone who would listen and not judge. Serena suggests, "If you think you are struggling, find the strength to reach out and ask for help.." and I definitely agree. If I took the path of not speaking to someone and asking for help, I would not be here on this Earth with the people who care and love me.
