Why do we define a person by the color of their skin? It says more about the person who is stereotyping then it does about the person being judged. We need to realize that discriminating people based on on their race is wrong. Most of us were raised to treat people the way we want to be treated, so why don’t we remember that? People who stereotype others based on race or color, don’t realize that a color doesn’t define a persons personality. We need to realize that racism is a problem and it needs to be stopped.

A race or skin color does not define who we are as a person. A person is a person no matter what. As of 2012, the population estimate is 313,914,040 people. 78.1% of these people are white. 13.1% are African American. We have so many races that make up the world. Without different races, what would this world be? We would all be the same. We need to define a person based on who they are, not what they look like. We are surrounded by different races everywhere we go, yet we all have the same abilities.

A race isn’t something you choose, but it makes up who you are! There are different races that we can see, or just different cultures. Many people are German, Polish, Irish, ect. These cultures are all different, and no one seems to judge them. Why do people discriminate others based on only what they can see? (White, African American, Hispanic, Latino, ect.) No one in this world is the same person, and we need to start embracing that!

There are many ways to stop racism. To start, people need to start remembering what most of us learned everyday as a kid. To treat people the way you want to be treated. Mostly, we hear about whites discriminating African Americans, but what makes a white person perfect? What makes a white and a black person different besides appearance? Most importantly, what do people of different races do to deserve the pain others put them through? The answer is nothing, because no one deserves that.

As we already know, racism is a huge problem in America. It seems as if we are always hearing about hate crimes or bullying involving different races going against each other. If people start standing up for what they believe in, racism could start to fade away. We have great people, of all different races. We don’t have any room for racism, because it brings down innocent people. Just a single person can try to stop racism, and that’s a goal we can all reach. Racism does no good for anyone. The good thing is, is that it can be easily stopped if we set our minds to it.
