Because You Have Told Me
Now is the time.
So if our world needs us to break society to reform it into something truly beautiful where
every one can be beautiful without being plastic perfection,
Let me be the first to challenge you.
You think that perfection is the only way and that to be beautiful, I need to be you.
I used to laugh at you.
Now I’ve come to realize that it’s true.
There are those too ignorant to pop their blissful bubble, who tell me that I can be
beautiful without anyone’s help and that you do not make me beautiful.
I feel pity for those who live in such blissful ignorance that they will not accept an
occasional bleak truth.
Just because you have told me, I will starve myself and count all my bones to be accepted
by my own generation.
I will no longer let it be said that
Individuality is a beautiful and precious gift.
Let it forever be remembered that
Once upon a time, there was an ugly girl living here, but because of you she will never
again exist.
I recall her well,
Her shivering form as her fingers brushed her own face in the mirror, the face that she
would never accept as being beautiful.
I do not concede that my last image of that broken girl will be
So ugly as this.
So because you tell me, I will reveal as much skin as possible and pretend that I am happy
like that.
Never before has society been
So crystal clear to me.
Your real intent for me is now
A beautiful rainbow.
You try to paint your way of life as
Normal, and I no longer believe it when
You tell me that this ugly girl will never again be.
Has the world come to this?
You tell me that this ugly girl will never again be
Normal, and I no longer believe it when
You try to paint your way of life as
A beautiful rainbow.
Your real intent for me is now
So crystal clear to me.
So because you tell me, I will reveal as much skin as possible and pretend that I am happy
