Leaving You
If this dawn were to end
Broken by my grief
There would be no waking
And no one to heat your tea
Or butter your toast
Maybe you would sleep till midday
Awoken by a slight discomfort
You would find the empty air filling a room
My last breath
Would be frozen in my chest
Robbed by the gates of passing
My servitude would be done
And my safe voyage
Bought with my eternal loyalty
You will curse me for leaving you
And want to know what sin was committed
To warrant my loss
But in truth, it was my time to go
And my choice to leave you behind
