Living life one day at a time
There were no worries of mine.
Yet,
Had I seen him at Clovers Creek,
In the dim of the dawn
He saw me and I him.
I had fallen in love at first sight,
Maybe he just might
See the light
And fall under the same spell he had cast upon me.
When he fell in love with me,
We met in the wee hours of the beginning,
As I grew older I was thinning.
Men started asking for my hand.
When my father’s band would play
I would go to the creek.
Little had I known a Greek
a man of Twenty-nine
Followed me to that lover of mine
And shot him dead without a single dread.
My lover, My only end.
As the Greek asked for me, I knew he would surely shoot I.
My knees buckled beneath my weight, as I dried the last teardrop knowing, feeling what would come next.
He counted to two then to ten,
Squeezed the trigger, at the sound of Big Ben.
A splash in my lovers creek and then
Mist fogged every thought in my head.

The color of my love at last spell ran red.
