The sun is setting and the crowd starts sitting down.
The announcer’s voice silenced by the pounding of my heart.
All the other runners stretching ready to dart.
I set the blocks and hope to win the crown.
The beading eyes now staring below.
In the blocks the fear turns to thrill.
I’m jumping around while staying perfectly still.
Ready to blast off as soon as I hear go.
