Porcelain Doll

There’s a porcelain doll
locked up in a place called home.
With her fair skinned face and pacific blue eyes set towards the crystal clear window before her.
She peers out at the world unknown,
only wishing to be like those who run free.
Passersby watch at her lifeless body,
yet they have no understanding of her capabilities.
For when the sky turns dark and the stars bring light to the sky,
this doll comes to life.
For the critics aren’t out to get her,
to judge her,
to treat her badly.
They have no knowledge of what they are missing,
to peer at the dazzling stars,
to bring peace and ease to their minds.
They take no chances in slowing their fast paced world.
This porcelain doll takes this time to heal her bitten tongue,
for all the times she held back,
too scared of her thoughts,
her feelings,
and her ideas to be turned down.
To be caught in such a predicament,
with much difficulty to escape.
So tonight,
she’s done with it all.
She cracked her well-known shell,
the ceramic pieces of her once self laid shatter upon the floor.
And for the first time,
She unclenched her teeth and allowed herself to speak.
