It is said that a flower, in its final hour,
so close to repose, twists bitter and sour.

It is said that a man in his darkest day, will take a knee and learn how to pray.

It is said that man, if put in a cage,
can learn to love and calm his rage.

It is said that man can write words, rythym and rhyme,
and still man is no more than a puppet of time.

The author's comments:
We read a story in lit one day about a man who went to prison and what happened to him. I feel like we, as people, are controlled by time and that we only learn to appreciate and love through loss... for me, this poem says that.

Ah, yet another poem of flowers and man. I read a Walter de la Mare poem like this called "All That's Past" It's very much like yours, though a little more complex and with more vocab. 'We wake and whisper awhile,/ But the day gone by,/ Silence and sleep like fields/ Of amaranth lie.'

Impressive. It could still be a lot better, but impressive nonetheless now.

Just another casualty.
It's sad but true.
And even dead I'm still ahead
of most of you.

Wow.

The last line really caught me there.

Really great work.

I'm off to read more of it!
