With his life ahead, he blindly follows the path his friends present.
In the car, he believes he needs drugs so he pricks, swallows, or inhales.
But then, as the sirens blare, Mother’s heart races. He’s cold, he’s gone.

This piece was written about a childhood friend of mine who died January 16 2019 from a xanax overdose while in the car with his friends. It was a hard loss for me and my friend, as we had just seen him riding his bike days prior to the incident. It's a hard reality for teens today. Don't do drugs, stay in school, and hug your parents. It's Crushing, but I know that He is in a better place.
