The Rain
The rain brings old memories back,
Of slippery lanes and the endless greens,
Low hills and the jungle trek,
My youth amidst such ethereal scenes.
I cannot go back to that time again,
Only the rain and the places remain.
Once a monsoon, back in the day,
I glanced at our town from the crest of the tallest hill.
The picture of a small town on a rainy day,
Left an everlasting impression which remains unchanged, still.
We often crave for mental satisfaction
Blossoming abundantly in all of nature's creation.
Some showers turn the world into a heavenly abode,
While some others paint the world with shades of melancholic grey.
My soul is drenched as I pen this ode,
My heart is heavy, mind astray.
People come like rain in our lives,
Good as well as the bad, everyone either leaves or dies.
Like my love for the rain,
Some emotions never fade away.
The nostalgic ecstasy that I gain
Enchants the forgotten memories to stay.
Time flows like a river to eternity,
Be grateful for a life of serendipity.
