Lingering Prescence
You are gone from this world,
but you never left me.
You are in every fleeting moment,
every pained breath.
Your essence hangs on each word
That passes over these lips
And all of the thoughts that don't.
You do not slip into corners
into faded memories,
But remain in everything.
The very hue of your eyes
painted across the dimming sky.
The wind, your warm embrace,
graces my eager skin,
longingly awaiting your touch.
You are my ocean,
each pulsating wave
the arms of fate,
ebbing at the confines of my heart
pulling me back to you.
As long as the sun keeps setting,
the wind keeps blowing,
the waves keep crashing,
And the broken heart stays beating,
You will always have a home.
