Addiction Isn't Pretty
Addiction isn’t pretty
People say it
They don’t know what it means
Addiction does not always mean
Drugs,
Alcohol,
Or nicotine.
It can,
And sometimes
It does.
But that's not all addiction.
Addiction is an unhealthy coping mechanism
That is what it is.
Pretty.
People think
‘Ohh like I’ll be ugly’
That can be true.
But not always.
Sometimes pretty is on the outside.
But no addict has a pretty inside.
As someone who grew up with addicts,
I can say
Addiction isn’t pretty.
And if you surround someone with it,
They will have an addiction,
As a person with addictions.
Addiction isn’t pretty.
It’s hell.
Don’t have a stereotype for addiction,
You’d be surprised how many people are addicts.
But hey
They chose it.
They chose to be in pain.
Or maybe,
They didn’t get a choice.
Maybe they needed an escape.
Because addiction is an unhealthy coping mechanism.
And no addict has a pretty inside.
But I’m an addict.
Not to drugs,
Weed,
Nicotine,
Or alcohol.
What I’m addicted to doesn’t matter,
Because admitting it
Tells you I’m no good.
That tells you,
I’m bad.
But all you need to know is,
Addiction isn’t pretty.
But you already knew that.
Next time think,
Maybe an addict
Is an addict for a reason.
Maybe not every addict has a good one.
But they all have one.
No part of addiction is okay.
Because,
Addiction isn’t pretty.
This is about stereotyping addiction. If you get anything from this, let it be that not every addiction is noticable. I'm not that great of a writer. At least I don't think so. If you have ways to make this better, I'll probably take your word for it and try to improve. I may regret this later, but I needed to get this off my chest for a while now. I'm not comfortable saying everything I'm addicted to. But a few of them are daydreaming (maladaptive daydreaming), pain, and a few others. Let me know if you have questions, I dont really write all that much. But I'm getting into it and it helps get things out.
