(Revised)Green Light
I might as well set my compass backwards
For you always thrust me the opposite way
Your arrows command me to turn right
Knowing I want to flee left that day
Right when I’m accelerating to the peak
Your yellow light raises a palm for me to pause
Although I make sure to look both ways
I feel I can never satisfy your cause
On some days when I wake up
You’ve already blocked my route to the top
I panic and ponder for another way around
But your red light glares at me to stop
So today I’ve finally gathered my courage
Demanding you to hand over a green light
For I just want to go, to charge, to soar
If only you’ll release the rope of my kite
Unlock my chains and untie my wings
I assure you this does not signal good bye
Dearest mom and dad, you know I love you so
But the time has come for me to fly
