Believe
Believe:
For me, before you leave.
If you do, sweet in my core,
You’ll drop—alive—once more.
Remember a day, so beautiful, so light.
Life begins, God’s strong might.
Shower upon us, yes, please do,
Arch back your head and the day begins anew.
Once more you will try,
Yet again and again you heave a sigh.
Is the peace to great to be real?
Yes, He agrees, and opens the seal.
War approaches, blood is shed,
Spirits tumble to their earthly bed.
Mother, herself, is grievously dying,
Of what Death had been so surely buying.
Heaven, Hell,
Why do they seek humans, well?
Are you the one who has thought rashly before,
Or are you the one who earned yourself galore?
I know of a place,
There is peace and love, all covered in lace.
But—what is it?
Think now, the candle is lit.
I am your friend and foe.
But is there such thing as a being so low?
Nationality, religion, race,
Must we bring discrimination the closure of the case?
These joyful steps prefer much more.
Do the people deserve to be beaten and sore?
Pounding away at their mental ability,
Yet there are a few who will stop their agility.
Enjoy a few drinks; go on, just a sip.
Quietly think, a finger to your lip.
What you are, what you become,
When someone anonymous scores up your sum.
Dream of a place where you belong.
Outside the window, a thrush sings a song.
The sweetening of it, so fair and so true,
And a rainbow, lustrous and radiant in hue.
Because you believed,
For you, me, everyone, you’ve achieved,
A fair, faraway place to be,
When the world and America will join together, free.
Look at the others, for they seek anew,
Of a place so perfect, yet so, so blue.
You don’t have to wait for it to arrive.
Ask yourself: Is the dream alive?
