Anxiety to Fear
The swirling of thoughts,
It kidnaps your mind.
Stinging you with images,
It begins to break through the wall.
Takes up your free will
And spins it around, this thing
It takes all of your strength, and
Turns your mind to mush.
All of it that was you, it
Turns it to small
Points in the past
A person of old, hiding all the
Eyes in the storm as
You keep spinning and spinning.
A hurricane of white, impulsive actions,
It swirls and swirls, completely
Snagging your mind away from your body,
Replacing it with something alien; you can’t throw it
Out
Of your mind and it hurts you so.
Everything you’re thinking and doing, it’s completely out
Of control.
Eyes begin to widen, breath quickens,
And soon, you’re frozen, paralyzed.
You cannot move, cannot think,
Everything is stuck, nothing makes sense to you.
Your blank, empty, ice-cold mind
Can only pick up the worried
Mix-matched warbles of long lost sounds.
This invader again arrests you into
Whirls of thoughts as
You continue to fall, fall, fall
Into a void of dark and pure cold.
You go on through your day,
Rattled and struck with
That sense of impending doom,
Trying your best but failing
To conceal this peaceless
Storm you now have raging inside,
To hide
The thoughts and cold that grips you,
That is turning you into
This anxious swirling mess
Of broken thoughts and paralyzed mind.
The impulsive, jerky actions, all corrupting
Inside.

Anxiety and fear have ways of taking over our minds and bodies in ways that can be hard to understand and hard to describe. Emotions are unpredictable things, and they hurt on the inside.
