The ice chunks lay on the still frigid water.

Branches of the long-gone trees lay on the sand.

And the only sign of life, are the birds that lay 

their wings out and glide through the crisp air.

The aftermath of civilization lives on this piece.

The undisturbed sound of water and wind.

The long-gone hustle and bustle of chaotic life,

and the only thing in sight is fresh clean water.

A mom and daughter used to splash,

and play in these very waters; long-gone

human civilization once lay here with no

idea what may be in store for the future.

I’m wondering how it got to this point,

the many things could have happened, 

but all I’m left with

is this calm unpopulated piece of art.
