My Cat

My cat is asleep
His body stretched out on the floor
I hear soft purring as he breathes
in and out
He is sleeping in a patch of
warm sunlight
beneath a window
He rolls onto his back
completely unaware
of the squirrel out there
staring at
my cat- asleep.
