Lonely Moon
It sits high in the sky and only shines its brightest
When no one is around
What is it feeling? Is it even feeling?
It looks sad up there all alone
The stars are there but all too far
It watches as the world slows down
The second it comes out
People go away
Does that hurt its feelings?
But does it even have feelings?
A sad drop of water falls from the sky
The moon is crying
He watches as people go away
He wonders if they'll ever stay
Another drop falls
One lonely night
He catches a glimmer of hope
A couple, laying down on the pier
Smiling back up at the moon
As he smiles down at them.
