I Awoke
I awoke one hour after noon,
Showered and shaved on this day in June.
Down the road I ran to catch the bus,
I flashed my pass without any fuss.
My toe felt fine this whole time until
A concrete curb came to greet my foot
In a blink of an eye, my skin ripped.
That evil sidewalk my big toe clipped.
My sandal became sticky with blood,
It didn't help that I stepped in mud.
Now I'm back home, and my toe still stings.
At least I have pills to kill the thing.
