He Was
You knew you still loved him,
even though you shouldn't.
You told yourself to forget him,
but it turned out that you couldn't.
When you said that would be the last time,
you knew damn well if youldn't.
You knew you had to let him go,
but it hurt so bad you didn't.
When someone asked what was wrong,
you said the shorter list is what isn't.
You thought he was the guy of your dreams,
everyone knew he wasn't.
He always says he loves you,
though everyone says he doesn't.
You said someday you'd find that out,
and still, to this day, you haven't.
