Untitled MAG
there's a moth caught in the wax
in the candlein my living room
the brown, patterned wings are just at the surface
so ifyou place your nose at the opening of the jar
to breathe the familiar,pleasant scent
you can see it
a raised bump, a fossil of ourtime
trapped.
it must have been tempted
by the lovely gleam
notknowing how hot the burn
or the permanence
instead of the carrion of aninsect
it is preserved
intact for observation
until someone decides tolight the wick
again.
