Sons of Society
The sun of society pours upon us,
From the moment we exit the womb
Till the day the earth claims us.
Like a father and son-
Childhood filled with dreams of pleasing him.
Firemen,
Policemen,
Astronauts,
Soldiers and all other civic heroes
We are, without a doubt,
Destined to become.
But adolescence strikes,
Complete with lies of
Happiness in conformity,
Self-determined rebellion.
But hormones fade
And the sea settles,
Left with a genetically-molded blob of clay
Stripped away by decisions
And the rays of society,
Till finally laid to rest,
Another son of society passed on.
