The City MAG
As I walk in the city
several things strike meas odd
everything is square
square and precise
andperfect
nature likes curves
nature likes spontaneity
asI walk through the city
many things I notice
are thesame
the same people every day
doing the same things at thesame time
they never change
just like concrete never changes
dark grey in the rain, light grey in the sun
how I wish Ihad a bucket of orange paint
that I could accidently drop
andwatch the color spread over the grey
the rivers of orange
fillingthe sidewalk cracks
then I could walk down my orangeway
observe a man pause in his hurry to look at the color
make him late
for wherever he rushes off to
every day atexactly eight in a grey suit
wherever it is
it needs someorange paint, too.
In the city the sky is tamed
only visiblebetween high-stretched towers
in the city the wind is tamed
toblow between concrete structures
for this reason
ithowls
to help the wind
one day I would like
to let ahandful of flower petals
fall from the 29th story
to lightenthe air
and grab the attention of a woman
emptying water outof a window
and make her forget her duties
all of which coulduse
some flower petals as well.
