This Long Cherished Wish
Oh’ this long cherished wish,
held tightly in the bosom of my occluded heart.
Hold fast, hold strong before the wild spring of contempt;
when dreams are sown and hope is grown.
Ravens encircle above, a halo of blackness to light the sky.
As hope sprouts, malicious eyes devour the soft young shoots.
Hold fast, hold strong before the unyielding summer of hatred;
where lays my hope to stand against the universe’s choking rope.
Tears fall to assuage the berating winds and callous creatures,
grow hope, birth flowers in this stillborn land.
Hold fast, hold strong before the wounded fall of pride;
how this desire of mine struggles maddeningly merely to survive.
Snow lays sleep down, easing softly into death.
The colored whorls of dreams are melting from this infant tree.
Hold fast, hold strong before the murderous winter of despair;
what dies of this parting wish kills the last remnants of my soul.
