Help Him
He tries to tell me that he can only rely on me,
Yet, doesn’t he know that God is there to?
It feels as if a knife has just stabbed me in the chest,
As I sit there listening to him, it twits and turns,
Gorging out my heart and letting it fall to the ground,
Allowing anything trample or stomp all on it.
I know I should love him,
Just like God does,
I know that no matter what,
I should love the man who plays the part of my earthly father.
But…
How?
How can I love him if I can’t forgive him?
And how can I forgive him if he does not repent?
And if he does not repent…
Then what should I do?
The only answer lies in my beaten and wounded heart,
I know that only through Jesus, will I be able to see,
See the man who once looked only at you o God,
And only had eyes for my mother.
So Lord?
Please help me see the man who you want him to be,
The one that I can love,
Help him see you and only you,
Set his eyes away from the earthly temptations,
And put him on the path to heaven, which only you can do
Lord,
Let me be a tool to help you win him over,
And an influence in his life.
Amen
