Time For You To Know
It’s time for me to finally let you know,
The time has come for me to let you go.
Though I love you and always will,
thoughts of the past still gives me chills.
I want and need truth, honesty, and no lies
To get acquainted with the person in disguise.
The way we lived was heinous it never fit,
I could tell with each cigarette you lit.
Ronald changed our lives for the worst,
abuse, indecent proposals was our curse,
starved for love, food, shelter, was our daily thirst
victimized bodies, scared little souls, shattered dreams
Was this apart of life’s new twisted themes
You saw the marks but you never truly knew,
all the atrocious things that evil men could do.
You deprive us of much, a childhood we lost,
rarely caring, in it for drugs, no matter the cost.
The thugs gave you drugs so you would prostitute,
working corners in high heeled hooker boots.
Now you’re older, you see your own reflection,
Yes your girls have gone another new direction.
Although we have the same dysfunctional genes,
Life proves that’s not necessarily always the way it seems.
You’re eyes have been clouded like a shade over glass,
Now the test has been given and you didn’t pass.
You’ve grown regretful, want to make amends and finally see,
though you’ll always be my mother you’ll NEVER be me.
