This Can Never Happen Again
They lived through hell,
Their stories they can’t tell.
The first scent flowers,
The last sight showers.
The blood they bleed,
The undone deeds.
All left behind in a world so cold,
All because of one man, and the world he controlled.
The tears they cried,
The victims that died.
They dug their graves,
Jews and Gypsies, physically disabled, and slaves.
All alike forced into camps
Forced into small places, dark and damp.
Mass murder, butcher, exterminate,
Massacre, slaughter, annihilate
The poor victims, facing death
Trying to hide, escape, to out of breath.
They walk to the chamber
If only they could remember
It feels as though they died long ago
Living a life full of terror and woe
They never wanted this life, but handed to them it was
There was no rhyme or reason to its choices, only because
To them, life or death was meaning nothing
Everything was taken, even the old widow’s wedding ring
They lived through starvation, and hiding, even liquidation,
But the one thing they wanted most would never come- salvation
The gas is getting closer, it is rising oh so high
The little children walking closer begin to cry
The lives they have lived, don’t account for anything
They look up and begin to cling
There is no hope anymore, nothing can change
They are going to die, in a land quite strange
The gas flies into the sky,
They all silently say goodbye
Their mothers before them, they know their fate
Theirs deaths, their gruesome deaths, they await
Nothing no one can do anymore
Its moments before they open the door
They silently walk in, scared and shivering, will they be saved?
It is harder to breathe, they really can’t see, their souls forever enslaved
What is wrong with the world today? Don’t they realize the pain we go through?
Nobody believes what is going on, not one of us could picture it like this, oh if only we knew
They don’t want to let go, they are trying their hardest
But they know they will soon be at eternal rest.
The air is tight; it is no use now,
So they fall to the ground as they make a vow
This can never happen again
The last words they said shall always remain.
