I Used to Be Fond of Him
Sprawled across the floor
I lay there
Headphones blurting out
Loud music in my ears
Pounding my ear drums numb
Until I am lost in the melody
Crystal, spear-cutting tears
Pierce down my face
(Like blades slitting my skin)
As I think of a man
That I thought was very fond of me
That I was very fond of.
Until the day came again
The day when I celebrated
Fifteen years of living
I received no call
From this man
I was too caught up
To recognize on that precise day
But as days went by
I began to feel sorrow
And pain in my heart
And pain in my chest
Every day he didn't call
The hole in my chest would puncture
Deep into my red-burden heart
Creating wounds, making it bleed
Poisoned red-burden blood.
I never thought...
How much this could hurt
How much time I could waste
Crying about it
Crying over him
Soon the feelings began
To fade slowly, evanescent.
I began to feel apathy
I began to feel numb
I can't believe
I was sprawled across the floor
Laying there
Headphones blurting out
Loud music in my ears
Pounding my ear drums numb
Losing myself in the melody
Crystal, spear-cutting tears
Piercing down my face
(As if blades slitted my skin)
As I thought of man
That man
I used to be fond of.
