Flying Free

The darkness surrounds me.
My heart beating,
pumping. Staring into

bright lights,

spotlights.

The air,
cold against my face
sweeping my dark,

long hair back.

The harness hooked to me was very thin.

One single yellow rope.

My best friend listening to the man count down
"Three, two, one".
I hear the rip cord pulled.

Then everything ceases.
Moving toward the ground at a speed that could make your heart stop.

Time was frozen.
Nothing seemed to move.

I could feel the cold wind upon my tongue while my mouth was propped open.

Everything tasted metallic.
The wind rushing passed my ears was loud, like screaming.

Finally, the world began to move again.

As I swung pass the landing pad, I screamed.
It was exhilarating.

Nothing could ever surpass this moment.
The moment of flying with my best friend.
The moment of being free, alive.
The one moment I would remember for the rest of my life.

When we hit the landing pad, I laughed.

I saw the world around me.
So different now.

The settings around me were so lively and excited, buzzing.

The second I was down from the rope, I wanted to go through the experience again.

The flying, the screaming, and even the swinging, the relaxing swinging.
Everything.

Just once more.
