Hourglass Survival

i am walking in an hourglass.
the sand pours down
i must stay on the surface
marching marching marching
hoping i won't tire before it all stops
will you walk with me?
the narrow neck opens to a new life
keep your eyes up
forget that they are filled with sand.
sand gets cozy with your scalp
fills your hair hands and toes with grit.
you can't stop to shake it off.
even though it fills your mouth and nose
keep walking.
keep yourself above that sand.
don't sink in.
don't stop moving.
don't let yourself get buried.
don't give up on life.
